It has been crazy
These last two weeks have been crazy.
Work, recovery, wedding stuff, birthdays, graduations, mother’s day and a retirement party.
Grandma Kay retired! They had an official party for her in Altoona with friends and family. It was pretty funny, they actually roasted her.
Rest and Recovery. Doing awesome. Tomorrow marks 1 month and four days. I head to the doctor’s for the final check-up and “after” photos. I actually went into Victoria Secret on Saturday and bought a bra. This is something I haven’t done since high school. It was liberating. The best way I can describe how I feel is balanced. I feel like I was always meant to be this size and I always used to feel sloppy. I recommend it to anyone who has considered it. My back and neck pain are nonexistent. It is an amazing feeling.
Mother’s Day: We headed back to Altoona to mom’s house, where we grilled out and a bunch of family came over. Grandma’s gift from mom featured wrapping paper that screamed “mother’s day” ![]()
After mom’s we headed to Biaggi’s to meet up with Deb, Bruce, Evan and Lexie and had a light, but yummy dinner.
Class of 2009: Evan graduated this weekend at the Hotel Fort Des Moines. It was a short and awesome ceremony. They even had punch and cake afterwards and then of course we celebrated at HuHot. Congrats Evan!
May has the best birthday! So this week Jen turned 24, I turned 29 and Nick’s Aunt Marsha turned 60! I also have three cousins, becki’s, kari leeper’s and wanda’s birthday all in this month. Wacky! (and wonderful!) For Marsha the family put together a surprise party on Saturday and she was surprised. We played “how well do you know marsha” and hung out with family. Then for my 29th we headed to mom’s on Friday for dinner, then to dad’s to say “hi”, Saturday night went to Dish of course and then to see my birthday buddy Rico at the cAb. And Sunday I met up with Grandma and Grandpa for breakfast.
Wedding Wonderfulness… These past two weeks we have been so productive with wedding planning it is nuts. Last week we went to the Iowa State Historical Building to check it out for a venue, the terrace is amazing! We picked a photographer, which I thought was going to be difficult, but we both loved this woman’s work. Went to two cake tastings with my crew (mom & kari). They helped me a lot, apparently I have no clue what I want in a cake. This week we are meeting the flower vendor and possibly another venue. I must admit at first I was super stressed about planning this, but so many people have offered valuable opinions and those have helped me not get all crazy. It seems things are coming together.
So there you have my last two weeks in a nutshell. This weekend, pretty pumped heading out of town with some friends, I need a break from all this decision-making!
