Light the Night for Ryder

A year ago, a couple months after Ryder passed we (jen and I) heard about this walk, Light the Night Walk which is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s nationwide walk. It occurs in the late evening and for a donation people carry balloons with lights in them, hence, Light the Night. Well we couldn’t get our shit together last year, but this year we were a little bit more prepared…a little bit.

We actually made it to the walk and some others joined! We had a good group walking in memory of Ryder (who we lost to Hodgkin’s Lymphoma). The night was beautiful, the kids really enjoyed themselves and we even had hot air balloons.

Next year, we’ll have a team and t-shirts!

“rationalists” by Bill Maher

Bill Maher (Realtime with Bill Maher, September 21, 2007):

According to a recent poll, seven in ten say it’s important to have a president with strong religious beliefs. The other three couldn’t take the poll because it was Friday night and Yahweh wouldn’t let them answer the phone.

But, fair is fair. So, for myself and the other 15-20% of American who the majority call “non-believers,” but who I call “rationalists,” here is our religious test for office: if you believe in Judgment Day, I have to seriously question your judgment.

If you believe you’re in a long-term relationship with an all-powerful space-daddy—who will, after you die, party with your ghost forever—you can’t have my vote, even for Miss Hawaiian Tropic.

I can’t trust you at the levers of government because there’s an electrical fire going on in your head.

Maybe a president who didn’t believe our soldiers were going to Heaven might be a little less willing to get them killed.

Freaky Judge Reinhold

Nick and I were laying in bed together (this is G rated people!) and we were talking about switching places, because I would love to know what it felt like to have ONE allergy-free day, the conversation then turned to the movies that incorporate this theme. Some “award-wining” films we talked about: Freaky Friday, Like Father, Like Son, etc. Then Nick mentioned a movie, couldn’t think of the name, just that involved a skull, Judge Reinhold and possibly Fred Savage. Apparently I have never seen this flick, none of it sounded familiar.

The next day after getting home from work I turned on the television which was on Showtime and Judge Reinhold was on the screen, strange we were just talking about him and how often does one talk about Judge Reinhold? I clicked Info and the dialog box stated the movie was called Vice Versa and the information said: (1988) A mysterious oriental skull transforms a father into his son, and vice versa. Starring Judge Reinhold and Fred Savage.

That is just crazy shit right there.
